Electricity supply shut down in Nigeria

Power installations and offices were on Wednesday shut down by electricity workers under the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), leading to power outage across the country.

The workers commenced a strike action following the expiration of a 21-day ultimatum given to the Federal Government over its failure to dialogue with them over some issues affecting the power sector.

In a bid to halt the strike, the leadership of the workers union was summoned to an emergency meeting scheduled for last night by the minister of power, SalehMamman.
